Winter has officially arrived! The snow is falling fast and furiously, giving us the perfect opportunity to hunker down and enjoy all it has to offer. Now that temperatures are dropping, homes across the country have been filling up with family members drinking hot chocolate, playing around in the powdery snow drifts, or just simply watching it come down. I hope you’re enjoying all of these moments of pure winter bliss as much as I am – I absolutely adore this time of year! And even if you don’t like shoveling out your driveway every morning or sliding off icy roads at night, there are still plenty of activities (and inside ones!) which can make for a cozy winter celebration right in your own home.

I’m so excited to share with you a cause that is close to my heart and how I’ve been giving back. As someone who firmly believes in investing in the community we live in, it’s been a true honor to use my free time for something meaningful and important. Have you ever thought about how much we can do when we come together? You don’t have to look very far, or wait too long until our collective efforts make an incredible impact — and that’s exactly what has happened over the last year. Today, I’d like to bring your awareness to one of the ways I am involved in serving our community: through volunteering on the committee for the Minneapolis Area REALTORS® Government Affairs. Government Affairs at the local, state and national levels functions first and foremost as a non-partisan resource providing information and access to industry expertise to decision makers. Minneapolis Area REALTORS® focuses on the issues that are the most important to REALTORS® business and works hard to advocate for the member base and their clients to:

• Protect their business, the industry and homeowners’ rights

• Monitor legislation affecting the real estate industry, promoting or opposing relevant initiatives

• Protect homeownership, private property rights and hold policy makers accountable.

As a resident in Ward 7, I will have the opportunity to engage and build a relationship with the elected officials serving our community.
